The Autistic Spectrum Disorder training course will enable delegates to gain understanding of Autistic Spectrum Disorder and differentiate between behaviours that arise from an individual’s personality or life experience and those that are directly due to the disorder.

The course looks into communication skills, the structure of teaching programs and offers practical ideas on how to deal with challenging behaviour with the purpose to improve support and reduce the stress levels of people with autism.

  • Understanding the diagnosis and assessment of a service user with ASD
  • Discuss your understanding of the impacts of ASD on the individual and supporting service users
  • Contemporary approaches to communication, support and personal development for people with autism
  • Strategies for responding to ritualistic/compulsive behaviour and dealing with challenging behaviors
  • Identify potential means of support and help in relation to structure and routine
  • Promoting independence and social inclusion of service users with ASD
  • Inivative therapies and interventions
  • Strategies and tools to prevent and manage difficult and challenging behaviour
  • Understanding of the causes of behaviour
  • Ideas and approaches for supporting service users
  • The confidence to develop your own strategies for supporting service users.
