This Nutrition, Positive Eating & Early Years course has been designed for all types of childcare staff to understand positive eating and nutritional care.

As a result of attending this Nutrition, Positive Eating & Early Years training session, delegates will understand the importance of promoting positive eating, for their own wellbeing and the wellbeing of those in their care.

Course Summary

The syllabus covers such topics as:

  • Nutritional care introduction
  • What is a balanced diet?
  • Salt, sugar & fat
  • What prevents people eating correctly?
  • Timing of meals and snacks
  • The environment in which meals and snacks are served
  • Preparation of children for meal times
  • Helping children have positive attitudes to all foods
  • Weaning
  • Portion sizes
  • Helping fussy eaters
  • Encouragement of independence and involvement in meal times
  • Providing support and encouraging children to eat and drink
  • Risk assessing – allergies, choking
  • Food groups and food safety
  • Working with parents – queries, misunderstandings
