The syllabus covers such topics as:

  • Define the term Dysphagia
  • Describe the causes of Dysphagia
  • Demonstrate an understanding normal swallowing and abnormal swallowing
  • Be aware of the role of Speech and Language Therapy Team (SALT)
  • Be aware of the International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative (IDDSI)
  • Be aware of the management for Dysphagia inc. guidance regarding food consistency
  • Be aware of risk management of dysphagia
  • Be able to identify risk factors and symptoms of Aspiration
