About our open workshops
They are designed to keep healthcare professionals up-to-date on the latest procedures, legislation and best practice, whilst supporting re-validation.
We deliver a wide range of courses that support national awareness days, and include Stroke Awareness, Dementia, Child Mental Health Awareness and Autism Awareness.
We also run clinical refreshers twice a year – and these topics include venepuncture, catheterisation and lead infection prevention.
Our open workshops are predominantly delivered via Zoom webinars by qualified tutors and trainers.
We also run a small number of face-to-face training events throughout the year, primarily focussing on the All Wales Manual Handling Passport Scheme.
Our face-to-face workshops generally run over multiple days.

Taking part in a virtual workshop
If they’ve registered independently, then certainly. However it’s important to note that it is strictly one participant per registration.
Download the Zoom App to your preferred device and familiarise yourself with Zoom prior to the training session.
Check that your camera, microphone and speakers are working on your preferred device, these are vital to your attendance and participation on the training. If you are using a smart device (phone / tablet), earphones with a built in microphone will improve your learning experience.
Do not share the link to join the webinar, it is unique to you. Sharing the link or a screen may affect registration and your certification of attendance.
We recommend you join the Zoom event 10 minutes before the advertised start time. Access to webinars is locked 10 minutes after the start time, this is to limit the disruption caused by any late comers.
The webinar will then be unlocked again 30 minutes after the start time to allow any attendees to re-join the session should they become disconnected.
You can get the attention of the trainer at any time, by clicking the ‘raise your hand’ button located towards the bottom left of your screen.
You will be required to ‘raise your hand’ to show understanding or answer specific questions. Once raised, you can also lower your hand if your question has been answered.
The trainer will mute and unmute your microphone enabling you to ask questions and join in with group discussions. You can also type a question to the trainer by using the Q&A function (if using a phone, hold it vertically to access the submit button).
Please complete all polls to evidence your participation and attendance.
We ask that you respect each other and other people’s opinions. During the entirety of the webinar please refrain from:
- Being in bed or a state of undress.
- Playing with your pets.
- Being solely responsible for a child or children.
- Smoking, vaping, eating, drinking or talking on your phone.
- Driving or being a passenger in a car or vehicle.
- Being in an unsuitable environment i.e. Supermarket, park etc.
Yes, webinar sessions may be recorded for training and monitoring/evaluation purposes. We reserve the right to use any session in full or part in the future. Any reference to an attendee will be by name only, no other data will be used to identify any individuals other than an employee or representative of Acute.
Please advise an Acute representative at the time of booking if you do not agree for you or your colleagues for whom the session has been booked, to be recorded and this function will be switched off. We also reserve the right to delete any webinar recordings at any time.
