Equality & Diversity including Unconscious Bias

This Equality & Diversity training course aims to emphasise cultural awareness and the importance of being able to recognise, value and manage individual difference, enabling all employees to contribute and realise their full potential.

As a result of attending this awareness training course attendees will be better equipped to define cultural diversity and the ways in which it manifests itself in all aspects of life and to explain how being aware of equality and diversity issues benefits all. This course also recognises senarios where a change to approach to a particular person (or group of people) may be required to ensure a succesful outcome.

The syllabus covers such topics as:

  • Define the terms equality and diversity
  • The benefits and key concepts of diversity together with its principles
  • The current legislative framework around equalities legislation
  • Positive action and why it is an important recruitment tool
  • The responsibilities regarding equality and diversity
  • Differentiate between an individual’s rights and responsibilities in relation to equality and diversity
  • Discover a greater understanding and awareness of unconscious bias
  • Understanding the adverse impact unconscious bias has on individuals and organisations
  • Introduce attendees to ways to challenge personal bias and minimise its impact on decision-making
  • Increase the confidence of attendees to engage in honest conversations about bias at work
  • Dignity, respect and effective communication
  • Definitions and examples of harassment, sexual harassment and victimisation
  • Human rights depicted in the 1998 Human Rights Act
  • Illustration of ways in which discrimination can be minimised and identify situations where it is acceptable
  • Acts of law that serve to maintain equality and ensure the acceptability of human diversity
  • Human rights depicted in the 1998 Human Rights Act.
