This Aseptic Technique training course is designed for community care and nursing staff. The training provides an understanding of the correct procedures to follow when performing aseptic techniques.

Please note: A competency framework is included in this training. Competency is achieved in the workplace following the training. Each procedure needs to be signed off by a qualified, senior member of staff. The completed document can then be used to identify the individuals’ competence.

  • Define the term “aseptic technique”
  • Identify when an AT should be used
  • Explain why there are variations in AT procedures
  • State the potential sources of microbial contamination
  • Identify non-aseptic steps and how to maintain asepsis
  • Relevant legislation and guidance
  • Competency framework
