This Substance Misuse training course is open to anyone who wants to learn more about the impact substance misuse has on daily living including the short & long term psychological effects to the individual, their families and friends.

This course will be delivered by a variety of teaching methods including; presentations; case studies; small group discussions; interactive quizzes and video examples and demonstrations.

The syllabus covers such topics as:

  • Discussion on your own attitude towards the misuse of substances
  • Commonly misused substances and reasons for there use
  • Possible signs of substance misuse
  • Commonly misused drugs including psychoactive substances (legal highs)
  • The social and personal effects of substance misuse
  • Legislation
  • The use of appropriate interventions for working with substance misuse on a short and long term basis
