This non-accredited, theory based webinar provides delegates with the information required to be able to recognise emergency situations and ensure appropriate action can be taken following an incident.

The session supports clients looking for additional backup cover to assist fully trained workplace first aiders.

Note – There is no practical element or practical assessment in this webinar, it provides first aid awareness only and is not a replacement of competency-based, practical training.

Course Summary

The syllabus covers such topics as:

  • Understand the role and responsibilities of a first-aider, including reference to:
    • The importance of preventing cross infection;
    • The need for recording incidents and actions;
    • Use of available equipment
  • Be able to assess an incident
  • Be able to manage a responsive and unresponsive casualty who is breathing normally
  • Be able to manage a casualty with external bleeding
  • Be able to manage a casualty who is suffering from shock
  • Be able to manage a casualty with minor injuries (small cuts, grazes and bruises, minor burns or scalds, small splinters)
