Course information

Our Addison’s Disease Awareness course provides essential knowledge about the condition, including its causes, signs and symptoms, treatment options, and appropriate interventions. The course also focuses on best practice approaches to reducing the risk of an Addisonian crisis, alongside escalation procedures should preventative measures prove unsuccessful.

Training is delivered through a range of engaging teaching methods, including presentations, case studies, small group activities, and facilitated group discussions, ensuring learners gain both theoretical understanding and practical insight.

The clinical training course syllabus covers such topics as:

  • Addison’s Disease and its causes
  • The function of the adrenal glands

  • The symptoms and treatment of Addison’s Disease

  • The main care interventions for patients with Addison’s Disease

  • Recognition and management of an Addisonian crisis (adrenal crisis)

  • Understand how to administer and intramuscular injection of hydrocortisone in an emergency

This course can be delivered to a maximum of 15 delegates and can be tailored to meet your organisation's specific needs. A full day option provides the opportunity for all delegates to participate in a practical workstation.

This course can be delivered via Zoom or MS Teams to a maximum of 20 delegates. Virtual sessions are most commonly used as refresher training sessions. Please note that there is no hands-on practical element in this training; practical elements are displayed using video examples.
