Delivered by experienced healthcare trainers, this catheter care training course combines anatomy and physiology, infection prevention, catheter management, specimen collection and practical troubleshooting techniques to help delegates develop the knowledge and confidence needed to provide safe, evidence-based care.

The course details the requirements of catheter care and maintenance, and how this can be carried out safely and effectively to minimise complications associated with urinary catheters. Covering both urethral and suprapubic catheter care, the training is suitable for care homes, nursing homes, domiciliary care providers, supported living services, community healthcare teams and complex care providers, supporting best practice and positive outcomes for those receiving care.

Delivery methods

  • Face-to-face training (½ day): This course can be delivered to a maximum of 15 delegates and can be tailored to meet your organisation's specific needs.

  • Virtual training (½ day): This course can be delivered via Zoom or MS Teams to a maximum of 20 delegates. Virtual sessions are most commonly used as refresher training sessions. Please note that there is no hands-on practical element in this training; practical elements are displayed using video examples.
