Course information

This regulated Level 3 Emergency Paediatric First Aid qualification is specific to infants aged under 1 and children aged from 1 year old to the onset of puberty. It quips participants with the essential skills and knowledge to respond to emergency situations involving infants and children, including CPR, choking, and severe allergic reactions.

This qualification is the first unit of the Qualsafe Level 3 Paediatric First Aid and the course syllabus covers such topics as:

  • Understanding the role and responsibilities of the paediatric first aider

  • Assessing an emergency situation safely

  • Being able to provide first aid to an infant / child who is unresponsive and breathing normally

  • Providing first aid to an infant / child who is unresponsive and not breathing normally

  • Being able to provide first aid to an infant / child who has a foreign body airway obstruction

  • Being able to provide first aid to an infant / child with external bleeding

  • Being able to provide first aid to an infant / child who is suffering from shock

  • Being able to provide first aid to an infant / child with anaphylaxis
