Course information

This Equality and Diversity training course is designed for all staff working in a care setting, including healthcare professionals, care workers, and support staff. It aims to emphasise cultural awareness and the importance of being able to recognise, value and manage individual difference, enabling all employees to contribute and realise their full potential. Participants will learn how to recognise and challenge unconscious bias, ensuring that care is provided without discrimination or prejudice.

By understanding these concepts, staff can promote fair and equitable treatment for everyone, regardless of background, and create a more supportive and culturally sensitive care environment. The course covers such topics as:

  • The benefits and key concepts of diversity together with its principles
  • The current legislative framework around equalities legislation
  • Positive action and why it is an important recruitment tool
  • The responsibilities regarding equality and diversity
  • Differentiate between an individual’s rights and responsibilities in relation to equality and diversity
  • Discover a greater understanding and awareness of unconscious bias
  • Understanding the adverse impact unconscious bias has on individuals and organisations
  • Introduce attendees to ways to challenge personal bias and minimise its impact on decision-making
  • Increase the confidence of attendees to engage in honest conversations about bias at work

This course can be delivered to a maximum of 15 delegates and can be tailored to meet your organisation's specific needs. A full day option provides the opportunity for all delegates to participate in a practical workstation.

This course can be delivered via Zoom or MS Teams to a maximum of 20 delegates. Virtual sessions are most commonly used as refresher training sessions. Please note that there is no hands-on practical element in this training; practical elements are displayed using video examples.
