Course information

This Obsessive Compulsive Disorder training explores the nature and impact of obsessive compulsive disorder, including common obsessions, compulsions and behaviours in adults, children and teenagers. Delegates will consider the possible causes of OCD, its prevalence and the different ways it can present, including contamination, checking, symmetry, intrusive thoughts and hoarding.

The course also covers the assessment process, including assessment for diagnosis, treatment and care needs, alongside an introduction to treatment approaches such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and exposure and response prevention (ERP). Emphasis is placed on personalised support, accurate record keeping, understanding co-existing conditions, and knowing where to access further guidance and support.

Delivery methods

  • Virtual training (½ day): This course can be delivered via Zoom or MS Teams to a maximum of 20 delegates. Virtual sessions are most commonly used as refresher training sessions. Please note that there is no hands-on practical element in this training; practical elements are displayed using video examples.
