This Rectal Administration training equips participants with the essential skills and knowledge to safely and effectively administer rectal treatments, such as suppositories or enemas, while maintaining the dignity and comfort of the patient. It covers the anatomy involved, proper techniques, hygiene practices, and relevant legal and ethical considerations.
Following the session, delegates will be able to understand the anatomy and physiology of the bowel, offer lifestyle advice to promote good bowel habits, recognise the need for the administration of suppositories/enemas and administer suppositories or enemas safely. Please note: A competency framework is included in this training. Competency is achieved in the workplace following the training. Each procedure needs to be signed off by a qualified, senior member of staff. The completed document can then be used to identify the individuals’ competence.
