Course information

RESTORE2 is a physical deterioration and escalation tool for care homes, people who live in supported living and supporting people who live in their own homes. It's been adapted for use by carers wanting to use a ‘soft signs’ approach as a pre-diagnostic indicator of concern to facilitate earlier treatment and avoid unnecessary transfers to hospital. This has been named as RESTORE2 Mini.

RESTORE2 Mini promotes effective communication and structured observations, enabling carers to escalate concerns confidently and accurately. Participants will gain practical knowledge in using the SBARD tool, recognising soft signs of deterioration, and understanding how to integrate this approach into everyday care. This training enhances clinical confidence, supports better outcomes, and helps bridge the gap between social care and healthcare services through early recognition and effective escalation.

Skills and knowledge highlighted in this training course include:

  • Spotting when someone may be unwell or getting worse (deteriorating) using ‘soft signs’

  • Telling someone that you are worried in order to get the right help using SBARD (situation, background, assessment, recommendation, decision)

  • Being able to communicate your findings to a health professional

This course can be delivered to a maximum of 15 delegates and can be tailored to meet your organisation's specific needs.

This course can be delivered via Zoom or MS Teams to a maximum of 20 delegates. Virtual sessions are most commonly used as refresher training sessions. Please note that there is no hands-on practical element in this training; practical elements are displayed using video examples.
